Old-soldier 1731's internal components must be in the same condition as her drab exterior. She sits dead, cut out of a CN North Bay-Toronto train.
Still, a nice weathering job for us model railroaders.
This is actually mile 88.7, CN Bala sub, 0.2 miles from Washago (mile 88.9). It's the junction between the CN Bala and Newmarket subs. The Bala sub connects Toronto to Capreol (Sudbury), while the Newmarket sub used to connect North Bay to Toronto. This subdivision is now split in two: the tracks run from Toronto (Parkdale), to almost 10 miles past Newmarket. They have been pulled up and start again near Longford, about 5 miles away from Washago. At Washago, the Newmarket connects with the Bala and continues on to North Bay and a connection with the ONR.
The engine was built by GMD in 1973.
UPDATE: Sold to Progress Rail in 2005
